Men’s Lightweight Rowing Set to Open Season at 58th Head of the Charles

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's lightweight rowing will open its 2023-24 campaign this weekend on the Charles River as they compete in the 58th annual Head of the Charles. 
 
Last season the Crimson registered their best finish in the Men's Lightweight 8+, taking home gold with a time of 13:59.  Throughout the weekend the Crimson also captured two top-10 finishes in the Men's Lightweight 4+. 

Weekend Schedule

Beginning at 12:43 p.m. on Saturday, the Crimson will have a pair of boats in the Men's Club 4+ event with Harvard A as bow 15 (C- Megan Li, S- Matt Lyons, 3- Henry Jones, 2- Ben Weatherwax, B- Howard Huang), followed by Harvard B as bow 19 (C- Ericka Lai, S- Chris Kim, 3- Kerry Daley, 2- Lars Caspersen, B- Nick Gu). 
 
Moving into the final day of racing, the Crimson will be represented by another pair of boats in the Men's Lightweight 4+ beginning at 1:28 p.m.  In bow four will be Harvard A (C- Megan Ong, S- Nathan Evan, 3- David Picard, 2- Nikhil Ramaraju, B- Stearns Weil) in addition to Harvard B as bow nine (C- Jillian Medina, S- Finn Crawford, 3- Alberto Lasso, 2- James Stevenson, B- Joost van Asperen). 
 
The Crimson will close out competition at the Head of the Charles in the Men's Lightweight 8+ as bow one (C- Anya Cheng, S- Alex Forbes, 7- Ben Lundie, 6- Brahm Erdmann, 5- Ryan McCarthy, 4- Preston Darling, 3- Zarret Mills, 2- Michael Fairley, B- Zach Mecca) at 2:09 p.m.
 
Ian Accomando, who was recently elevated to Associate Head Coach last month, will represent the Crimson in the Men's Alumni 8+ boat set to begin at 10:59 p.m. on Saturday.  The event will kickoff the slate of 13 events for the Crimson across men's and women's lightweight and heavyweight teams. 

Leading the Crimson

The Crimson are led by Billy Boyce, The Friends of Harvard Lightweight Rowing Coach for Men's Lightweight Crew, who enters his eighth year at the helm of the lightweight men.  Serving as captain for the Crimson in the 2023-24 season will be senior, Michael Fairley

Next Up

The Crimson will head up to New Hampshire the weekend of November 4 to compete at the Green Monster Fall Speed Order.
