CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard Men's Heavyweight Rowing A-entry in the Head of the Charles Regatta's Championship Eight race posted the field's top collegiate performance, and the second-best time overall, on Sunday. The Crimson B-boat, meanwhile, was the runner-up among those classified as junior varsity teams.
Coxed by Benjamin Ray, the Crimson eight of Josh Brangan (1), Ben Scott (2), Alexander Sullivan (3), Leo Bessler (4), Cameron Beyki (5), Oscar Olsen (6), Thomas Horncastle (7) and Tyler Horler (8) posted a time of 14:26.413. That performance, which trailed only USRowing (14:21.484), was more than a second better than runner-up Princeton (14:27.957) and nearly 10 seconds faster than Yale (14:35.543).
The Crimson's B-boat, meanwhile, completed the regatta course in 14:57.908, finishing second to Northeastern's B-group (14:52.639). Harvard's boat was coxed by Sreetej Digumarthi and featured Marty Kulesza (1), Jordan Dykema (2), James Patton (3), Simon Nunayon (4), Gabriel Obholzer (5), Apostolos Lykomitros (6), Liam Downing (7) and Marco Gandola (8).
Harvard returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 11, when it competes in the Foot of the Charles Regatta.
