Women’s Soccer Travels to Yale for Regular Season Finale

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's soccer will complete its 2023 regular season this weekend with a road trip to New Haven to take on the Yale Bulldogs. The Crimson (9-3-2, 4-1-1 Ivy) has already clinched a spot in the inaugural Ivy League Tournament next weekend and will now face the Bulldogs to try and secure the number two seed in the tournament. 
 

WHAT TO KNOW 

  • Unbeaten in its last five games, Harvard will now take on Yale to close out its regular season in New Haven. 
  • The Crimson is 4-1-1 in Ivy League contests and is currently tied with Princeton at the no. 2 spot in the conference table. 
  • Harvard leads the all-time series with Yale, 35-9-2 and has recorded victories in each of the past four matchups. 
  • The Crimson has outscored Yale 10-0 during its four-game winning streak dating back to 2018. 
  • As a team, Harvard is outscoring opponents 33-15 in 2023. 
  • The Crimson is averaging 16.9 shots per game compared to opponents 6.4. 
  • The Harvard offenses currently ranked no. 25 in the nation with its 2.36 goals per game. 
  • The team's assist per game mark of 2.64 is the best in the Ivy League and good for no. 14 in the nation. 
  • Harvard averages 7.36 points per game which is also top-20 in the country. 
  • Junior Josefine Hasbo leads the Crimson offense in assists (6) and points (16) and is currently second on the team with five goals. 
  • Ólöf Kristinsdóttir holds the team lead in goals with six in her first season with the group. 
  • August Hunter has played the most of any Crimson player in 2023, logging 1,252 minutes on the pitch and missing just eight minutes all season long. 
  • Gabby DelPico (13), Hannah Bebar (12) and Ava Lung (11) are third, fourth and fifth on the team in points, respectively. 
  • Anna Karpenko has been the primary goalkeeper for the Crimson this season, leading the team to six shutouts, the second most for a goalkeeper in the Ivy League. 
  • Harvard's rankings have risen due its positive results over the past month as the team now ranks no. 12 in the KPI rankings, no. 19 in the RPI poll and No. 22 in the Top Drawer Soccer poll. 
 

UP NEXT

Harvard has already clinched its spot in the inaugural Ivy League Tournament that will take place on Nov. 3 and 5 at Brown University in Providence. The Crimson's first round matchup is already set, as the group will battle Princeton on Nov. 3. The only detail left unconfirmed is the seeding as the Crimson will try and clinch the no. 2 seed with a strong result this weekend.
