CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard Women's Volleyball team (13-6, 6-4 Ivy) swept the Columbia Lions at home after winning in the same fashion on the road earlier this season. Harvard won on Homecoming Saturday in three sets of 25-10, 25-16 and 25-20.
Harvard dominated the first set, as the Lions held on for the first five points but could not stop the Crimson from there. Harvard went on to a nine-point run after their ninth point and finished the set with a six-point run to go up 1-0 with a 25-10 win in set one.
The Lions scored the first three points in the second set, but Harvard made a fast comeback and took control of the set once again. The second frame ended 25-16 after Harvard battled the Lions on the final point for a confidence boost to hope for a sweep going into set three.
Set three was the closest of the match, as the lions managed to keep Harvard within two or three points through much of the frame. Harvard pulled away in the final points, leaving the Lions at 20 as they went on to win the set 25-20 and sweep the Lions for the second time in 2023.
