CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – In a fight for the third-place position in the Ivy League, The Harvard Women's Volleyball team (14-6, 7-4 Ivy) swept the Brown Bears at home, reversing the outcome from their road contest earlier this season. Harvard won on Friday night in three sets of 26-24, 25-22 and 25-18.
The Bears started with a lead in set one, but Harvard quickly tied it up then went on a six-point run to build up a 15-8 lead. Brown battled back to tie the set up at 22 and it was close from there, as the set remained tied at 24. The Crimson scored the next two points, highlighted by an outstanding dig from

Katie Vorhies' eighth kill on the line to win the set 26-24.
Harvard started ahead in the second, but Brown tied it up at seven and went on to build up a five-point lead. But the Crimson did not let them pull away so easily, as Harvard brought it back within one before the Bears called a timeout at 17-18. Harvard took over from there, taking a 21-20 lead and going on to win the set 25-22 and move up 2-0 over the Bears.
The third set was another close start, with both teams scoring back and forth through the first ten. The Crimson took the lead with a five-point run after point 12, with
Ashley Wang adding four points to her docket and Patterson saving a play with a pancake dig. Harvard went on to dominate the final points and win set three 25-18, sweeping the Bears 3-0.
Harvard Highlights
- Katie Vorhies led Harvard in kills, scoring 14 on the attack. Wang and Ava Rauser each added 11 as well. Rauser hit .579, scoring on 11 of her 19 attacks.
- With 20 assists on the night, Rocky Aguirre led the Crimson in assists. Wang posted a double-double as she added 16 assists.
- The Crimson scored eight aces, led by Wang with three and Hannah Nguyen with two. They outscored the Bears 8-4 on service aces.
- Patterson and Vorhies led the Crimson in defense, as both scored 2.5 total blocks with three block assists and one solo each.
- As she has in a majority of matches this season, Lindsey Zhang led Harvard in digs with nine, followed by Nicole Prescott with six.
- Harvard beat the Bears in each of the key metrics, going up 43-36 in kills, 41-34 in assists and 38-37 in digs. They also outscored Brown 8-6 in blocks and out-hit them .289 to .158.
- The Crimson reversed the script on the Bears, sweeping Brown after Brown had previously swept Harvard on the road this season. This win puts the Crimson solely in third place in the Ivy League standings.
