EAST HAMPTON, N.Y. – Harvard men's golf capped off an incredible weekend at the Maidstone Club on Tuesday, finishing tied for ninth place in the competitive tournament at the Golf Digest Top 100 course in the United States. Competing in the Hamptons Intercollegiate against a field of many ranked golfers – including the defending U.S. Amateur Champion – Harvard Junior,
Jeffrey Fang carded the lowest 54-hole score for the Crimson (213, -3) to finish tied for 11
th place.
Fang got off to a roaring start in the tournament, going eight-under through his first eight holes to take a commanding lead out of the gates. Fang finished his first nine holes with a seven-under 30, the lowest nine-hole score of the season for Harvard. Fang would go on to card round of 67, 72 and 74 on his way to a T-11 finish.
Kevin Sze and
Adam Xiao also saw success at the Maidstone Club, posting solid scores throughout the tournament. Sze carded a 71 in the second round and Xiao posted two-over 74's in the first two rounds. Sze and Xiao would go on to finish T-40 and T-42, respectively.
UP NEXT
Harvard will compete in its final event of the Fall next week, when it makes the trip out to Fairfax, Calif. to compete in the Alister Mackenzie Invitational. The Meadow Club will host the 54-hole tournament on Oct. 9 and 10.
