CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Football quarterback
Charles DePrima has been named the Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week, the conference office announced today. The Ivy award is the first of DePrima's career and comes on a day in which the quarterback was named the FedEx Ground FCS National Offensive Player of the Week and the New England Football Writers Association/Grinold Chapter Gold Helmet recipient.
Â
DePrima is now the third Crimson player this season to garner Ivy League Player-of-the-Week honors.
Ty Bartrum was named the league's top defensive player on Sept. 18, and
AJ Lopez earned the same distinction on Oct. 2.
Â
A native of Oakland, New Jersey, DePrima led No. 19/21 Harvard to a 41-23 win over Cornell, helping the Crimson improve to 4-0 (2-0 Ivy League). The QB rushed nine times for a career-high 152 yards and three touchdowns, while completing 12 of 19 pass attempts for a personal-record 209 yards and three TDs with no interceptions.
Â
DePrima's three rushing TDs marked a career high and his three passing touchdowns matched a personal best. The junior also paired his second-career 100-yard rushing performance with his best completion percentage of his career (.632).
Â
In the game vs. Cornell, DePrima completed passes to seven different receivers, with each of his TD throws going for at least 17 yards (17, 19, 36). On the ground, two of his three rushing TDs covered at least 42 yards (42, 58) as he became the first Harvard QB to rush for at least two TDs in a game since Joe Viviano at Brown on Sept. 24, 2016.
Â
The six-touchdown performance kept the Crimson undefeated on the season and Harvard now enters the upcoming week as one of two unbeaten teams in the country (South Dakota State, 5-0).
Â
DePrima and his Harvard teammates now set their sights on its final non-conference clash of 2023, which comes on Saturday vs. Howard. Kickoff at Harvard Stadium is set for 1 p.m., with the game airing live on ESPN+. Tickets for the contest are available at GoCrimson.com.
