PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Harvard Women's Volleyball team (15-7, 8-5 Ivy) defeated the Penn Quakers for the second time this season, this time on the road in three sets. With this win, the Crimson have clinched a spot in the Ivy League Tournament. Harvard won in three sets of 25-20, 25-7, and 26-24.
The Crimson got off to a 4-0 lead in the first set, but the Quakers kept it close by scoring the next four points. The rest of the set was back-and-forth with the Quakers. Harvard got an ace from
Ashley Wang and the Crimson eventually pulled out the 25-20 win in set one to go up 1-0.
The momentum from the end of the first set carried over to the second as Harvard dominated. The Crimson received a big block from
Ariana White which was followed by an ace from
Ryleigh Patterson to give Harvard its fifth and sixth points of the set. Harvard went on a 7-1 run following a Penn timeout to give the Crimson even more momentum. The Crimson were hitting .389% after two sets, and took a 25-7 win to go up 2-0.
Harvard got off to an early lead in the third set, but the Penn Quakers made the Crimson work for the win. Penn led for almost all of the third set until Harvard went on a 5-0 run when Penn had a 23-19 lead. The Crimson came from behind to eventually come out on top, 26-24, and clinch their spot in the Ivy League Tournament.
Harvard Highlights
- Wang led the Crimson in kills, scoring 14. She was followed by Ava Rauser who had seven.
- With 17 assists on the night, Rocky Aguirre led the Crimson team. Wang was second in assists with 11.
- Wang and Nicole Prescott led in aces, each scoring two a piece. Patterson added an ace as well.
- White led the way in blocks for the Crimson with three solo blocks and four block assists to total seven on the night. Katie Vorhies and Patterson added four blocks each.
- Libero Lindsey Zhang led the team in digs with 14.
- The Crimson outscored the Quakers 12-4 in total blocks in tonight's matchup.
- Harvard has now gone 2-0 against the Quakers in back-to-back seasons, winning the four most recent contests and bringing the all-time series closer to even.
- After clinching a spot in the Ivy League Tournament, this will be Harvard's first appearance in the conference postseason since the four-team tournament started in 2022.

Harvard's final regular season match of the season will take place on Saturday at 7 p.m. as the Crimson travel to Princeton, N.J. The match will be streamed on ESPN+. The Crimson will then head to Yale for the Ivy League Tournament from Nov. 17-18.
