CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's lightweight rowing will continue their 2023 fall season on Saturday, November 4 as they head up north to Hanover, New Hampshire for the Green Monster Fall Speed Order.
The Crimson opened its 2023-24 season two weekends with a successful showing at the 58
th annual Head of the Charles.
What to Know
- The Crimson closed the weekend on a high by defending their Men's Lightweight Eights title. Anya Cheng (C), Zachary Mecca (1), Michael Fairley (2), Zarret Mills (3), Preston Darling (4), Ryan McCarthy (5), Brahm Erdmann (6), Benjamin Lundie (7), and Alexander Forbes (8) made up the Harvard boat that went on to win the Men's Lightweight Eights event for the second straight year. The Crimson finished with a time of 14:51.920 to sit atop the leader board and beat out the Penn Quakers by less than a second.
- Also, on the second day of racing, the Crimson placed fifth and sixth in the Men's Lightweight Fours. The two Crimson boats finished in back-to-back places on the leader board with the Harvard B boat recording a time of 17:11.374 and the Harvard A boat following behind with a 17:14.600 performance.
- In this first day of the Head of the Charles the Crimson had a pair of boats competing in the Men's Club Fours. The Harvard A boat finished in a time of 16:33.840 to earn a seventh-place result. The Harvard B boat finished at 20 on the leader board, resulting in both Crimson boats finishing in the top half of the 53-boat field.

Billy Boyce, The Friends of Harvard Lightweight Rowing Coach for Men's Lightweight Crew, who enters his eighth year at the helm of the lightweight men. Serving as captain for the Crimson in the 2023-24 season will be senior,
Michael Fairley.
