Men’s Soccer’s Arlotti Wins Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year, Crimson Collects Five All-Ivy Honorees

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University men's soccer junior forward Alessandro Arlotti has won Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year honors, senior defender Nik White gained Academic All-Ivy, and the Crimson earned five All-Ivy honorees, the Ivy League conference office announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Arlotti captured First Team All-Ivy accolades alongside his Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year award while White gained Second Team All-Ivy honors to go with his Academic All-Ivy recognition. Junior defender Jan Riecke garnered Second Team All-Ivy while first-year midfielder Erik Dalaker and sophomore defender Ethan Veghte each collected Honorable Mention All-Ivy laurels.

Arlotti – now a three-time First Team All-Ivy honoree – earned his second major award from the conference after capturing Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 2021. In conference play in 2023, he led the Ancient Eight in points (13) and goals (five), while standing second in assists (three). Overall, Arlotti stands third in the Ivy League in points (18), second in assists (six), and fifth in goals (five) this season.

Arlotti's recognition marks Harvard's first Ivy player of the year award since Andre Akpan won Ivy League Player of the Year in 2009. The conference split the award into offensive and defensive categories beginning with the 2013 season. Arlotti becomes the seventh player in Ivy men's soccer history to win both the rookie and player of the year awards.

Riecke collected All-Ivy for the third straight season after gaining First Team All-Ivy in 2022 and Honorable Mention All-Ivy in 2021. Riecke has played in 1,423 out of a possible 1,440 minutes on the year and has competed in the full 90 minutes in 15 of 16 matches in 2023. He has started all 49 games in his career.

White has served the team as a two-year captain and earned All-Ivy honors for the first time. He has acted as a three-year starter for the Crimson and earned CSC Academic All-District honors in 2022.

Dalaker has played in all 16 games with nine starts this season in the midfield. He has started five of the Crimson's seven Ivy League games and has tallied one assist on the year.

Veghte has competed in 15 games with 11 starts this fall as an outside back for the Crimson. He has started all seven of Harvard's Ivy League games in 2023. Last season, he played in all 16 games with 12 starts, including four starts in Ivy play.

Next, No. 2 seed Harvard will compete in the inaugural four-team Ivy League Tournament beginning with a semifinal matchup against No. 3 seed Yale on Friday, Nov. 10 at 3:00 p.m. (ESPN+) in Philadelphia.
