No. 21 Men’s Swimming and Diving Begins Campaign at Home vs. Cornell, Dartmouth on Saturday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 21 Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving, the six-time defending Ivy League champions, will begin its journey to a seventh title on Saturday when it plays host to Cornell and Dartmouth at Blodgett Pool. The action will commence at 2:30 p.m. ET and air live on ESPN+.

What to Know

  • Harvard is led by Kevin Tyrrell, The Ulen-Brooks Endowed Coach for Harvard Men's Swimming & Diving. Tyrrell is entering his 11th season at the helm of the program.
  • The Crimson, which is 60-1 vs. Ivy League opponents under Tyrrell, will be captained this season by seniors Will Grant and Cole Kuster.
  • Harvard opens 2023-24 ranked No. 21 in the CSCAA Division I Top 25 Poll. The Crimson is the only Ivy League school in the rankings and the lone team in the Northeast.
  • Harvard is looking to win on opening day for the third straight season. The Crimson faced Dartmouth and Cornell on the first day of the campaign the last two seasons (at Cornell in 2021-22, at Dartmouth in 2022-23).
  • The Crimson has emerged victorious on Day 1 of each season during the Tyrrell era with the exception of 2019-20, when it fell at home to seventh-ranked Texas A&M and Duke.
  • Harvard owns a commanding 58-2 all-time series lead vs. Cornell. Since a defeat to the Big Red in 2006, the Crimson has responded with 15 consecutive series victories.
  • Harvard leads the all-time series with Dartmouth, 79-11. The Crimson has not lost a head-to-head clash with the Big Green since Jan. 8, 1972. Since the last of three straight series losses, Harvard has answered with 51 straight wins.
