Men’s Squash Sweeps Drexel to Finish Regular Season Undefeated

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – No. 1 Harvard Men's Squash (14-0) closed out their regular season with a non-conference victory against No. 7 Drexel (8-6), 9-0.  With the win, the Crimson finish with a perfect record of 14-0, the team's third undefeated season in four years. 
 
The Crimson started out hot as Liam Rotzoll and Denis Gilevskiy grabbed the first two wins, both sweeping their opponents.  Marwan Tarek, shortly after, put the Crimson up 3-0 after his 3-1 victory over Matias Knudsen (Drexel).
 
To secure the win, the Crimson picked up wins four and five from Neel Joshi and Ayush Menon, to clinch the team's perfect season with four matches outstanding. 
 
In the final four matches, the Crimson were able to down their opponents in two 3-1 decisions and two 3-0 sweeps to secure the Crimson fifth sweep of the season and second of the weekend.   

Harvard Highlights

  • Marwan Tarek completed his undefeated regular season, improving to 12-0 with his win today.  All of Tarek's wins have come at the No. 1 position. 
  • With his win today, Ido Burstein reached double digit wins for the year, improving to 10-3. 
  • With his pair of wins this weekend, George Crowne finishes the regular season, leading the Crimson in wins, standing at a record of 13-1.
  • Harvard has an impressive eight players who have racked up at least 10 wins throughout their 14 matches. 
  • With the win, the Crimson remain undefeated all-time against the Dragons, having won all seven of their matchups.

Next Up

In two weekends, February 24-26, the Crimson will travel to Hartford, Conn. to compete at the CSA Team Championships.  Harvard is looking to defend their title and claim their fourth straight National Championship.
