Baseball Alumni Reunite as Pitchers and Catcher Report to Blue Jays Spring Training

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – As pitchers and catchers reported for spring training for the Toronto Blue Jays, a trio of Harvard University baseball alumni -- Jon Morosi '04, Frank Herrmann '06, and Jake McGuiggan '15 – reunited on Thursday in Dunedin, Florida.
 
Morosi – a national sportswriter and on-air personality – covers Major League Baseball for MLB Network, MLB.com, MLB Network Radio, and Fox Sports, while also serving as a reporter for NHL Network. While an undergraduate at Harvard, Morosi competed on the Crimson's JV baseball team and wrote for The Harvard Crimson as a hockey reporter.
 
Herrmann has served as the Pitching Development Coordinator for the Blue Jays since 2022 following a professional playing career. After his Harvard career, Herrmann worked his way up the Cleveland Guardians organization, making his MLB debut in June 2010. He also spent time with the Los Angles Angles, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Philadelphia Phillies organizations prior to concluding his playing career in Japan from 2017-21.
 
McGuiggan has acted as the Blue Jays' Minor League Development Coach since 2020 and has worked in the organization since 2018. Prior to his current post, he also served as a Minor League Analyst and Minor League Video Assistant.
 
The 2023 edition of the Harvard baseball team opens its season with a four-game, neutral-site series against Pittsburgh from Feb. 24-26 in the Snowbird Baseball Classic in Port Charlotte, Florida. The season opener is set for Friday, Feb. 24 at 1:00 p.m.
