Women's Basketball to Celebrate Senior Day and End Regular Season Play Saturday

Cambridge, Mass. - The Harvard women's basketball team will play host to Dartmouth on Saturday, March 4 at 4 p.m. for the final game of regular season play. The game will serve as the Crimson's senior day celebration and honor seniors Annie Stritzel, Gabby Donaldson, McKenzie Forbes and Maggie McCarthy. The game will stream on ESPN+.

What to Know

• Harvard women's basketball opened the Carrie Moore era this season with 7 nonconference wins and 8 wins through 13 games in conference play. This weekend will present the final regular season conference game and final home game of the 2022-23 season. The game will also serve as the Crimson's senior day celebration to honor the four seniors: Annie Stritzel, Gabby Donaldson, McKenzie Forbes and Maggie McCarthy.

• With a 89-56 victory over Cornell on Saturday, Feb. 18, the Crimson clinched a spot in the 2023 Ivy League Madness Tournament. Harvard will await the results of this weekend to determine whether they will enter the tournament as the third or fourth seed.

• Head Coach Carrie Moore is in Year 1 after the retirement of Kathy Delaney-Smith, who was at the helm of the Crimson program for 40 years. Moore was named The Kathy Delaney-Smith Head Coach For Harvard Women's Basketball on April 6, 2022, and arrived in Cambridge after spending the 2021-22 season as an assistant coach at Michigan, helping the Wolverines to a 25-7 record and a No. 3 seed in the NCAA tournament. Moore also had assistant-coaching stints at North Carolina, Princeton and Creighton.

• Sophomores Harmoni Turner and Elena Rodriguez have had career seasons, each reporting career highs in multiple metrics and multiple double doubles throughout conference play. Turner has reported career highs in points (31), rebounds (12), steals (7) and assists (12). Rodriguez's career highs consist of points (28), rebounds (14), assists (5) and blocks (3).

• In the most recent contest at Princeton, McKenzie Forbes led the Crimson in scoring with 19 points. This is the second game in a row she has been the team leader as she put up 20 points against Cornell on Saturday, Feb. 18. Elena Rodriguez pulled down 9 rebounds at Princeton to lead the team in the metric.

• Harvard recently posted a season-high in three point baskets with 15 against Cornell. After spending a few weeks out with an injury, Maggie McCarthy made a spectacular return and shot 5-for-5 from three, putting up a third of the Crimson's three pointers and setting a new career high in threes.

• Throughout the 2022-23 season Rodriguez leads the league field goal percentage: she has shot 119-for-190 with 62.6% accuracy.

• Harvard has two of the top six scorers in conference play with Lola Mullaney in third (17.3 ppg), and Harmoni Turner in 6th (14.7 ppg).

 • Lola Mullaney hit the 1000 career points benchmark against Yale, surpassing the mark as she made a shot from three. Mullaney is only the 22nd player in Harvard history to hit this mark and is well on her way to climbing the Harvard record books as she is only in her junior season.

• Harvard is meeting Ivy League competitor Dartmouth for the 91st time in series history, one in which Harvard leads 54-36. The Crimson currently holds a 4-game win streak over the Big Green, winning both matchups in the 2022 season, and the most recent matchup on Jan. 16, 2023, 68-52. In the two most recent games, Harvard has held Dartmouth to 52 points.

• Harvard's 2022-23 schedule featured 12 non-conference games before Ivy League play began. With an 8-5 Ivy record, Harvard is currently fourth in Ivy League standings.
