Sailing Records Two Additional Top-Three Finishes

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Competing at three regattas this weekend, Harvard Sailing had another strong showing, finishing in the top-three at the Jan Friis Team Race and the Duplin Women's Team Race.

Hosted by fellow Boston foe, Tufts, the Harvard women competed at the Duplin Women's Team Race, finishing second out of 10 schools.  The Crimson went 10-4 on the weekend as they were led by skippers Sarah Burn, Marbella Marlo, and Cordelia Burn and joined by a crew of Corinne Lee, Daniella Bregman, Juliana Ruggieri, Emily Launderville, and Margo Silliman

Through round one of the Duplin Trophy, the women were 8-1, only dropping a race to MIT.  The Crimson registered 1-2-3 finishes against Roger Williams and Yale.  In the top-six, Harvard finished with a record of 2-3.  Harvard avenged their loss to MIT and defeated Tufts for the second time while dropping races to Yale, Brown, and Boston College.

Despite three losses in the top-six, the Crimson was still neck and neck with Brown, forcing a sailoff.  With a pair of disqualifications for the Crimson, Brown defeated Harvard to claim the top spot for the weekend.

In the Jan Friis Trophy hosted by Roger Williams, the Crimson finished in third out of nine teams with a record of 13-6 for the weekend.  Harvard was led by skippers Dylan Ascencios, Lachlain McGranahan, Eric Hansen, Justin Callahan, and Mitchell Callahan and joined by crew Alexandra Dorofeev, Tyler Masuyama, Eric Hansen, Aidan Pesce, Christopher Wang, Grace Li, and Kennedy Leehealey

In the opening round of races the Crimson went 6-2, only dropping races against Yale and Brown.  The Crimson had a pair of 1-2-4 finishes against Roger Williams and Bowdoin and a 1-2-3 finish over Boston College.  Harvard than registered a 5-3 record in the second round, dropping races to Yale, Roger Williams, and Boston College.

Following the two rounds, the Crimson found themselves in the top four.  In races against the top four schools Harvard went 2-1, only falling to Yale and defeating Roger Williams (1-2-5) and Coast Guard (2-3-4) to claim third overall for the weekend.

In their third regatta of the weekend the Crimson landed in eighth place at their home event, the Team Race Invitational.
