Ikeji, Ratcliffe, Retsa Improve Their Own School Records at Florida Relays

Gainesville, Fla. - Harvard track and field sent athletes to compete at the Florida Relays in Gainesville, Fla. In day one of competition at the meet, Stephanie Ratcliffe, Kenneth Ikeji and Anastasia Retsa broke their own school records in their respective events, the women's and men's hammer throws and the pole vault.

Harvard Highlights

• Ratcliffe out-threw her previous record by almost three whole meters, crushing the school record and setting a new nation-leading mark. Her 70.15m (230' 3") throw took first in Gainesville and is almost two meters further than any collegiate athlete has thrown so far this year.
• Ikeji matched Ratcliffe's efforts on the men's side in the hammer throw, also setting a new school record by beating his own personal best in the event with a new record of 72.48m (237' 9"). His throw took second in Florida and ranks fourth in the nation.
• Retsa continues to inch the bar higher in the pole vault, clearing a new personal best and therefore school record of 4.18m (13' 8.5"). Her vault took second at the Florida Relays meet.
Aaron Shirley won his second race in the sunshine state for the second weekend in a row, taking first in the 400m hurdles with a time of 50.75.
