Sean Farrell (Player of the Year), first-year forward
Joe Miller (Rookie of the Year) and head coach Ted Donato (Coach of the Year) took home major Ivy honors, and seven different players were honored as the Ivy League announced its men's ice hockey awards today (March 8).
This marks the sixth time in the last eight seasons that Harvard has had the Ivy League Player of the Year honors, and the seventh time in the last 10 years that Harvard has had the Ivy League Rookie of the Year.
Farrell,
Matthew Coronato,
Mitchell Gibson, and
Henry Thrun earned First Team All-Ivy honors, while
Alex Laferriere was named Second Team All-Ivy, and Miller and
Ian Moore earned Honorable Mention All-Ivy recognition.
Farrell led the Crimson with 21 points (6-15-21) and was plus-13 in 10 Ivy contests, recording points in all but one game in Ivy League play. He had two of his most memorable performances against Cornell, scoring the game-winning goal in overtime at Lynah Rink on Dec. 2 in a 2-1 win, and recording four assists in a 6-2 win over the Big Red at home on Jan. 28. He also notched a career best five points (2-3-5) in Harvard's final Ivy contest of the season, a 6-3 win at Dartmouth on Feb. 10.
Miller was excellent for the Crimson in his first year of college hockey, notching nine points (5-4-9) and a plus-10 rating against Ivy competition. Miller had three points (1-2-3) in a 4-2 win over Princeton on Oct. 29, and had points in seven of 10 Ivy League games.
Donato earned his second straight and third overall Ivy League Coach of the Year selection (2016-17, 2021-22, 2022-23) after leading Harvard to a 9-1 record in Ivy League play. Harvard has the best record of any Ancient Eight squad with a 17-2-1 mark against Ivy League competition over the last two seasons.
Coronato was tied for second on the team with 15 points (8-7-15) and a plus-13 rating against the Ivy League. He had a team best three game-winning goals with three multiple-goal efforts (vs. Princeton, at Princeton, vs. Cornell), and had points in nine of 10 games overall. He scored a memorable OT game-winning goal in the final minute of overtime at Yale on Jan. 20.
Gibson started eight of 10 Ivy League games in net, posting a 7-1-0 record with a 1.98 GAA and .910 Save %. His Ivy performances included a shutout against Yale on Nov. 5, and a 31 save performance in a 6-2 win over Cornell on Jan. 28.
Thrun recorded 10 points (1-9-10) with a plus-13 rating in nine Ivy League contests, including three multiple-point efforts.
Laferriere was tied for second on the team with 15 points (8-7-15) and was plus-7 in Ivy League play. He had a team high four power play goals, and two game-winning goals, including a memorable game-winner in OT at Princeton on Jan. 6 in a 4-3 win.
Moore led all Harvard defensemen with 10 assists and was plus-8 against Ivy competition this season.
