Fredrik Willumsen Haug is the first skier to represent the Crimson in day one of the 2023 NCAA Skiing Championship at Whiteface Mountain.
The first day of the 2023 NCAA Skiing Championship comes to an end at Whiteface Mountain with the conclusion of the the Giant Slalom event for both men and women.
The men's first run began at 10:15 this morning after the women. In the first run,
Fredrik Willumsen Haug had a close call towards the end of the course costing him vital seconds but made an impressive recovery. Haug finished in 31st place in the first run with a time of 1:07.89, qualifying for a second run.
The men's second run began at 2:15 p.m. after a short delay. Haug was the first runner on the start list to go down the course. Finishing in 29th place overall with a second run time of 1:03.87, and a combined time of 2:11.76.
This concludes racing for today. Tomorrow March 9th, the Harvard nordic skiers will make their NCAA debut in the 5km freestyle races. Alpine racing will return on Friday, March 10th for the Slalom races.
