Gainesville, Fla. - After breaking three school records in Florida on Friday, the Crimson kept the weekend of competition going with three more broken records at Florida Relays and athletes sticking closer to home to compete at the UMass Dartmouth Corsair Classic, where three events were won.
Florida Relays Highlights
- Alexander Kolesnikoff made Harvard history as the first to ever throw beyond 20 meters in the shot put with his nation-leading personal best of 20.05m (65' 9.50") to win in Gainesville.
- Samuel Bennett broke the school record in the 110m hurdles twice: once in the prelims and then again in the finals at the Florida Relays. His time of 13.56 in the final took sixth at the meet but was not wind legal for the record books, meaning his time of 13.79 in the prelims stands as the new Harvard record.
- The men's 4x400m relay team shaved nearly a second off the previous Crimson record to set the new time to beat at 3:07.79. The team of Aaron Shirley, Gregory Lapit, Peter Diebold and Lance Ward took second place in Florida.
- Sarah Omoregie improved her all-time best in the shot put with a throw of 17.21m (56' 5.75") to take third at the meet and further cement her place as second in the Harvard record books. Her mark currently stands sixth in the NCAA.
- Victoria Bossong improved on her personal best from last week in the 800m run to post a time of 2:07.11, ranking fourth all-time in Harvard history.
Corsair Classic Highlights
- Jeremiah Swett won the men's discus throw with a throw of 43.74 (143' 6"), beating out 20 competitors.
- Kyle Murphy took home the gold medal in the triple jump, sending himself 13.34m to win the event by nearly two meters.
