CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard men's volleyball junior middle blocker
Trevor Schultz has been named the EIVA Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Monday afternoon. The honor is his second of the season and comes on the heels of the Crimson's two-match road sweep of NJIT.
Hailing from Saint Augustine, Florida, Schultz helped Harvard to a pair of five-set victories over the Highlanders. In two outings, the junior posted a team-high 10 total blocks, including a Harvard-best four solo stops. Elsewhere on the floor, Schultz added a Crimson-best five service aces and 12 kills, while hitting a team-high .407 (min. 15 att.).
In the series opener on Friday, he had eight kills against one error (.467), a team-high two aces and recorded six total blocks. Less than 24 hours later, he led all players with three service aces and had a team-high four total blocks, three of which were of the solo variety.
On the season, Schultz owns a team-best 67 totals blocks, 22 digs, 123 kills and 20 service aces.
Schultz and the Crimson return to action on Friday when they play host to George Mason at Malkin Athletic Center. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET with the action airing live on ESPN+.
