CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Multiple Crimson fencers competed in the North American Cup in St. Louis, Missouri from Friday, April 21 – Monday, April 24 as well as the Sabre Grand Prix in Seoul, South Korea from Thursday, April 27 - Saturday, April 29.
In the North American Cup, two fencers returned from the tournament with medals.
Coming off her stellar performance at the Junior & Cadet Fencing World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, where she earned gold medals in both the women's foil individual and team competitions, sophomore
Lauren Scruggs continued to impress at the North American Cup. Competing in the Division One women's foil event, Scruggs won a silver medal.
Sophomore
Mihir Kumashi also impressed, earning a bronze medal in the Division One men's epee competition.
Senior
Filip Dolegiewicz also competed in the event, placing tied for sixth in the men's sabre Division One competition.
The Sabre Grand Prix in Seoul, South Korea was the first Olympic qualifier event.
Harvard alumni and fencing assistant coach
Eli Dershwitz placed 17
th in the event.
Seniors
Mitchell Saron and
Elizabeth Tartakovsky also competed in the event. Saron placed 30
th while Tartakovsky finished 35
th.
Up Next
Harvard fencers will be participating in multiple international tournaments this summer. Up next will be the women's foil competition in Plovdiv, Bulgaria from May 5-7. There will also be a men's and women's sabre competition from May 12-14. The men will be competing in Spain while the women will be competing in Batumi, Georgia.
