CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Following the conclusion of one of the best seasons in program history, Harvard Men's Tennis will look to continue their success in the 2023-24 season and have begun by announcing a trio of seniors as their captains.
Andrew Rueb '95, the Scott Mead '77 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Tennis, the James Herscot '58 Coach of Excellence, has announced
Ronan Jachuck,
Henry von der Schulenburg, and
Alan Yim as the 2023-24 Harvard Men's Tennis captains. Speaking on the teams' future captains Rueb said, "We are thrilled to have Alan, Ronan, and Henry leading the charge next year. They all have tremendous leadership skills and are excellent role models in how they manage both their studies and tennis."
Jachuck is coming off his strongest year yet, contributing 48 wins for the Crimson across singles and doubles play. Playing solely at the No. 3 and 4 singles positions, Jachuck accumulated a record of 12-7 in dual play, picking up several key wins for the Crimson including clinching the team's victory over No. 11 Columbia in their third matchup. The rising senior was dominant all season in doubles play, recording a team best, 27 wins.
von der Schulenburg will serve as captain of Harvard Men's Tennis for the second straight season in 2023-24. The Zurich, Switzerland native is the 16
th two-time captain in program history and the first since 2018. The rising senior played primarily at the No. 2 singles positions, accumulating a record of 14-3 for the spring and 20-6 overall. von der Schulenburg consistently led the way for the Crimson in the ITA Collegiate Division I Men's Tennis Singles Rankings, landing inside the top-35 of all 12 polls and reaching as high as No. 9. To close out his junior campaign, von der Schulenburg dominated the No. 19 nationally ranked player in the team's Sweet Sixteen matchup and competed in the NCAA singles tournament for the second straight season.
Yim had a comeback season in 2022-23 after not competing for the entirety of his sophomore season. Contributing 16 singles and 12 doubles victories throughout last year, Yim was a consistent performer for the Crimson. Yim shined bright on the biggest stages, picking up highlight wins in singles against No. 8 Virginia and doubles in the teams Sweet Sixteen matchup against No. 6 Georgia. The Bellevue, Washington native will look to build on a strong 2022-23 season as he now will help lead the Crimson next year.
