Crimson Alumni Earn Podium Spots at Track and Field National Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - Multiple Harvard track and field alumni and future student-athletes competed at the USATF and U.K. National Championship track and field meets this past weekend, hoping to earn sports on their nation's team for the world championships coming up in Budapest, Hungary. 

US Championship Results 

• Gabby Thomas '19 won the women's 200m dash with a new world leading time of 21.60, setting a new meet record and personal best. 
• Sophia Gorriaran, an incoming first-year, won the women's U20 800m run in a time of 2:04.33. She led the race for two laps to cross the finish line first. 

U.K. Championship Results

• Will Battershill '20 is the British champion in the men's 3000m steeplechase in 8:44.19. He will work to achieve the world championships standard before the championship meet to represent the U.K. in Budapest. 
• Efe Uwaifo '17 won the men's triple jump with a leap of 16.20m to become the 2023 British Champion in the event. 
Samuel Bennett made it on his nation's podium with a third-place finish in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 13.46, a new personal best in the event. 
Kenneth Ikeji finished fifth in the hammer throw and has been selected to represent the U.K. at the European U23 championship meet.
