LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the first time in his collegiate career, junior
Charlie Ortmans will represent the Crimson at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, as the Arlington, Virginia native advances with a stellar run in the men's 10,000m semifinal on the opening night of the 2026 NCAA East First Round.
The Ivy League's champion in the men's 10,000m this season, Ortmans stayed in the top half of the pack for all 25 laps, posting a 1:02.56 in the last lap to secure his 11
th place finish after crossing the finish line in 28:53.00. Fellow classmate
Sam Burgess also finished in the top 15, taking 13
th with a time of 29:08.89.
Harvard's time at the 2026 NCAA East Region First Round started off with the men's 100m first round, as junior
Timi Esan stopped the clock at 10.41 to take 39
th overall and seventh in his heat. A native of London, United Kingdom, Esan ends a 2026 outdoor season in the 100m that saw him set the Ivy League all-conditions record in the 100m with a time of 10.15 at the Texas Relays.
The Crimson's record holder in the men's 400m, sophomore
Harlow Tong clocked a 46.33 in the fourth heat to finish in 37
th place in the men's 400m first round. A native of Saint Paul, Minnesota, Tong became the first student-athlete in school history to go sub-46 in the men's outdoor 400m this season, breaking his own school record with a 45.70 at the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Championships.
In his NCAA East First Round debut, first-year
Oliver Parker ran a personal-best 51.18 to take 32
nd place in the men's 400 hurdles first round. A native of Leicester, England, Parker's time in Lexington ranks sixth all-time in program history.
Junior
Amari Turner, running in the third heat of the men's 200m first round, posted a 20.82 to finish in 29
th place. A native of Sanford, Florida, Turner won the Ivy League title in the men's 200m at the 2026 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Championships.
