CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Harvard Rugby team will open their 2023 15s campaign on the road at Quinnipiac on Saturday, Sept. 2. The game will be streamed live on Quinnipiac All-Access.
The first game of the season will come after a successful 2022-23 campaign, in which the Crimson were prevalent on the national stage, competing at the NIRA Championship in 15s and going on to take third in the nation at the USAR Sevens National Championship as well.
What to Know
- Harvard closed out the 2022 15s season with a 6-3 record, going 2-1 in Ivy League contests. The Crimson finished second in the NIRA, only falling to Dartmouth, a team that they had lost a close game to earlier in the season.
- Harvard will be captained by seniors
Brogan Mior and
Elianne Sacher and junior
Sofia Hilger.
- Head Coach
Mel Denham will enter her seventh season at the helm of the Crimson program. She is assisted by
Justin Moss and
Sylvia Braaten.
-The team has added a talented class of five first-years in
Ava Ference,
Sydney Gottesman,
Maya Hilger,
Neasa McLaughlin and
Courtney Taylor.
- In the 2022 season, the Crimson started their season with a 48-19 win over Quinnipiac at home. They hope to repeat this performance on the road.
-This will be the ninth ever matchup between Harvard and Quinnipiac, one which the Crimson lead 7-1. Harvard is currently on a seven-game win streak, as Quinnipiac only won their first game ever.
