Men’s Soccer Hosts No. 12 Vermont on Saturday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University men's soccer hosts No. 12 University of Vermont in the third and final match of a three-game homestand on Saturday, Sept. 16 at 5:00 p.m. (ESPN+) at Jordan Field.

What to Know

  • In the Crimson's outing against No. 23 Seton Hall (Sept. 9), senior Nik White scored a critical goal, netting an equalizer in the 90th minute to help the Crimson earn a point against the nationally ranked Pirates with a goal with 24 seconds left.
  • Opening its 2023 season, the Crimson has taken on a more challenging non-conference slate, including Saturday's matchup with No. 12 Vermont. Harvard began the year against an opponent from the Atlantic-10 (Rhode Island) and back-to-back Big East teams in Marquette and No. 23 Seton Hall.
  • Junior defender Jan Riecke has anchored Harvard's back line thus far this fall, playing in all 360 minutes on the year. Senior defender Nik White follows him with 345 minutes played on the season.

  • Senior midfielder Willem Ebbinge helped New Zealand qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics as the team beat Fiji, 9-0, in the final of the Oceania Men's Olympic Qualification Tournament on Sept. 9 at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland.
  • Ebbinge currently ranks fourth all-time at Harvard with 24 career assists. Andre Akpan '10 (33), Will Kohler '97 (26), and Tom McLaughlin '98 (25) hold the top three spots on the Crimson's all-time list.
  • Harvard closed the 2022 season unbeaten in its last eight games (5-0-3) and undefeated in its last six Ivy League contests (3-0-3). The Crimson claimed third place in the Ivy League standings with 12 points, marking its highest finish in the conference table since 2015. Harvard concluded the 2022 season with a 7-1-1 record at home.
  • Harvard trails Vermont in the all-time series, 6-7-1.
  • Vermont has opened the year with a 4-1-0 record. The Catamounts have earned victories over Cornell (1-0), Colgate (2-0), and Lehigh (2-1) in their last three outings.
