Men’s Soccer Heads to No. 18 New Hampshire on Tuesday Night

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University men's soccer plays at No. 18 University of New Hampshire on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at 6:00 p.m. (ESPN+) at Wildcat Stadium in its third matchup with a top-25 team this season as the Crimson comes off a 1-1 draw with Cornell in its Ivy League opener.

What to Know

  • Senior Willem Ebbinge leads the Crimson with seven points on the season behind a goal and five assists. Ebbinge ranks first in the Ivy League in assists (five) and fifth in points (seven). He netted the equalizer in Harvard's draw with Vermont and tied the school single-game record with four assists at Fairfield.
  • Ebbinge currently ranks second all-time at Harvard with 29 career assists. Andre Akpan '10 (33) holds the top spot on the Crimson's all-time list. Ebbinge stands fourth in Ivy League history, trailing only Penn's Steve Baumann (39), Akpan (33), and Brown's (Fred Pereira).
  • Junior defender Jan Riecke has anchored Harvard's back line thus far this fall, playing in all 630 minutes on the year. Senior defender Nik White follows him with 615 minutes played on the season.
  • Junior Alessandro Arlotti stands fourth in the Ivy League in assists (three), first in shots (22), and third in shots on goal (nine). He ranks second on the Crimson with five points on the season behind one goal and three assists. Arlotti scored his first goal of the year in a 1-1 draw vs. Cornell (Sept. 23).
  • Against Fairfield (Sept. 19), first-year Dylan Tellado scored a pair of goals, senior Ale Gutierrez and junior Sam Bjarnason each scored once, and senior Willem Ebbinge (four) and junior Alessandro Arlotti (three) each tallied career highs in assists as Harvard defeated the Stags, 4-2.
  • Senior Willem Ebbinge converted a penalty kick in the 78th minute as Harvard earned a 1-1 draw with No. 12 Vermont (Sept. 16). Ebbinge scored his goal in his first start for the Crimson since coming back from OFC Olympic Qualifying where he helped New Zealand book its spot in the 2024 Summer Olympics.
  • In the Crimson's outing against No. 23 Seton Hall (Sept. 9), senior Nik White scored a critical goal, netting an equalizer in the 90th minute to help the Crimson earn a point against the nationally ranked Pirates with a goal with 24 seconds left.
  • In its home and season opener against Rhode Island (Sept. 1), the Crimson posted a shutout in a 0-0 draw with sophomore goalkeeper Lucian Wood earning his first career clean sheet.
  • Opening its 2023 season, the Crimson took on a more challenging non-conference slate. Harvard began the year against an opponent from the Atlantic-10 (Rhode Island) and back-to-back Big East teams in Marquette and No. 23 Seton Hall. The Crimson later met another pair of top-25 opponent in No. 12 Vermont and No. 18 New Hampshire.
  • Harvard has recorded a 6-2-7 record in its last 15 games and has posted a 7-2-5 mark in its last 14 home games at Jordan Field.
  • Senior midfielder Willem Ebbinge helped New Zealand qualify for the 2024 Summer Olympics as the team beat Fiji, 9-0, in the final of the Oceania Men's Olympic Qualification Tournament on Sept. 9 at North Harbour Stadium in Auckland.
  • Harvard leads the all-time series with New Hampshire, 7-6-1.
  • New Hampshire brings a 4-1-2 record into Tuesday's matchup. The Wildcats have posted a 2-1-1 mark in September with a setback against Cornell (1-0), wins over No. 11 FIU (2-1) and Princeton (3-1) and a draw with Binghamton (0-0).
