ITHACA, N.Y.. – The Harvard Women's Volleyball team (9-3, 2-1 Ivy) fell to the Cornell Big Red on the road, losing three straight sets by scores of 25-21, 25-17 and 27-25.
In a similar start to Friday's matchup at Columbia, Harvard took the first four points of the match and started with a lead in set one. However, Cornell made up ground and took a four-point lead of their own soon after, going on to win the first set 25-21.
The second set went to the Big Red as well, as they took an early lead and did not allow the Crimson to catch up, winning the frame 25-17.
Set three was a closer battle, with Harvard holding a slight lead early in the set. Cornell evened it out but Harvard took a lead and led to 24, at which point the Big Red rallied to come back and tie it at 24, pushing the set past 25. Cornell scored two in a row after 25, winning the set 27-25 and the match 3-0.
Harvard Highlights
- Ashley Wang led the team in kills with 11, also posting 12 assists for a double-double. She was just two digs shy of a triple-double. With five triple doubles so far this season, she is two shy of the Harvard record for triple-doubles in one season. The record was set by Corinne Bain with seven in a season from 2014-16.
- Following Wang's 12 assists, Rocky Aguirre posted 11.
- Lindsey Zhang led the Crimson in digs, making 12 that included multiple dives to save rallies.
- Aguirre was the dominnat server of the night, scoring 3 service aces; the most from both the Crimson and Big Red teams.
- Ava Rauser and Ryleigh Patterson each made a solo block, while Wang and Ariana White both had three block assists. The Crimson was the leading team in solo blocks as Cornell only had one.

Harvard will return home for their first Ivy League contests in the Malkin Athletic Center on Friday, Oct. 6 and Saturday, Oct. 7 where they will play host to Princeton and Penn. Both games will air on ESPN+.
