PHILADELPHIA – Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving went on the road and finished on the short end of a 176-124 decision at Penn Saturday afternoon. The Crimson dropped to 4-2 on the season and 4-1 in Ivy League action. The hosts, meanwhile, moved to 5-2 overall (5-2 Ivy).
How It Happened
- The Quakers won the first three events before Harvard claimed its first race – a Will Grant triumph in the 100 back. The senior emerged victorious with a time of 47.88, with teammate Anthony Rincon coming in second place (48.32).
- First-years David Schmitt and Sonny Wang turned in runner-up performances after being edged in back-to-back events. Schmitt recorded a time of 1:46.95 in the 200 fly, falling just shy of the winner, Andrew Dai, who finished in 1:46.29. Wang, meanwhile, completed the 50 free in 20.34, which was .07 behind Benjamin Feldman (20.27).
- Adam Wesson continued his impressive campaign, winning the one-meter diving competition. The junior won the event with a score of 349.80. Wesson's Crimson teammates also had strong showings, finishing second, third and fourth. Raphael Tourette was the runner-up (326.55), with Luke Foster (324.90) and Denny Gulia-Janovski (323.78) following close behind. Gulia-Janovski also won the three-meter event (350.33), ahead of Foster (347.63) and Wesson (344.03).
- David Greeley picked up nine team points for the Crimson when he won the 100 free in 44.51. Cole Kuster later replicated the effort with a first-place performance in the 500 free (4:26.59).
