BOSTON, Mass. – Split between the Collegiate Showdown at the TRACK at new balance and the Battle in Beantown at Boston University, Harvard student-athletes found success on the track and in the field at the two meets.
COLLEGIATE SHOWDOWN HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- Harvard competed at the TRACK at new balance, the site of the 2024 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, for a third time this season.
- Sprinters Jonas Clarke and Timi Esan both qualified for the 60m dash finals. Esan placed fourth with a time of 6.77, which ranks eighth in program history. The London, U.K. native holds two top-ten 60m dash times in school history, posting a 6.76 run in the event earlier this season.
- Clarke finished in sixth with a time of 6.82.
- In the men's high jump, first-year Tito Alofe continues to show great expertise and skill in the event.
- The Peachtree, Ga. native shared first place with Georgia's Riyon Rankin, as each athlete cleared 2.15m.
- Lilly Hodge earned second place honors in the women's high jump, clearing 1.65m on her first attempt.
- For a second consecutive week, Anastasia Retsa captured second place in the pole vault, clearing 4.17m on her first try.
- In his 2024 debut, sophomore Daniel Falode captured first place honors in the triple jump. Falode's second jump of the day came in at 15.42m, good enough to best Georgia's Zavien Wolfe in second place.
- Defending NCAA hammer throw national champion Kenneth Ikeji made his junior year debut today. The London, U.K. native won the weight throw with a high mark of 21.12m.
- After an impressive Harvard debut at the HBCU & Ivy Challenge, Emilia Kolokotroni set a new personal-record in the weight throw on her way to second place honors (18.47m).
- Alice Mihas also logged a new personal record in the weight throw, hitting 16.89m.
BATTLE IN BEANTOWN HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- First-year Amari Turner dazzled in the 200m dash at Boston University, taking second in a field of 28 with a time of 21.44.
- That time ranks fifth all-time in school history. Turner also holds the third fastest 200m time (21.31) in program history.
- Senior Gregory Lapit won the 300m dash at the Battle in Beantown, recording a 33.82 in the event.
- Jonathan Gamarra also placed in the top-five of the 300m, recording a personal best time of 34.54 in the event.
- The men's 4x400m relay team of Lapit, Gamarra, Turner, and Reuben Henry-Daire won the event with a time of 3:13.13, which ranks seventh in the Harvard record book.

Harvard student-athletes will split up again next week, featuring in the Riverhawk Invitational and the John Thomas Terrier Classic on Friday, Jan. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 27.
