Men’s Swimming and Diving to Travel to Princeton for HYP Meet

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving will close out its regular-season schedule at the annual HYP meet against Yale and 24th-ranked Princeton. This season, the meet will be held at Princeton's DeNunzio Pool, Feb. 2-3. Friday's action is set for 6 p.m. ET, with Saturday scheduled for a 1 p.m. ET start. Both days will air live on ESPN+.

What to Know

  • HYP will feature the top two teams in the Ivy League standings in Princeton (5-0) and Harvard (4-1), with Yale sporting a 2-3 mark vs. conference foes.
  • The Crimson is looking to rebound from a 176-124 road loss at Penn back on Jan. 20. The decision capped a 1-1 week for Harvard after it defeated Brown, 189.50-104.50, on its Senior Day on Jan. 16.
  • Despite the loss in Philadelphia, the Crimson still received solid performances on the diving boards and from other parts of the roster. Adam Wesson remained unbeaten in duals on the one-meter board, posting a score of 349.80. Denny Gulia-Janovski, meanwhile, took home the three-meter title with a 350.33 performance.
  • Will Grant finished ahead of the pack at Penn in the 100 back (47.88), with Anthony Rincon (48.32) coming in second. First-years David Schmitt and Sonny Wang also posted runner-up showings in the 200 fly (1:46.95) and 50 free (20.34).
  • Harvard finished its day in the City of Brotherly Love with wins in the 100 and 500 free. David Greeley was the victor in the 100 free with a time of 44.51. Cole Kuster, meanwhile, finished the race in 4:26.59.
  • Harvard enters this week's action having won five consecutive HYP meets (2018, 2019, 2020, 2022, 2023). The 2017 version was not contested and the 2021 meet was not held due to the pandemic. The last time the Crimson did not emerge with two victories was in 2016, when it defeated Yale, but came up short vs. Princeton in New Jersey.

Up Next

Harvard is scheduled to return to action Feb. 28-March 2, when it plays host to the Ivy League Championships at Blodgett Pool. The Crimson enter the meet as the six-time defending champions.
