Men’s Swimming and Diving to Face No. 16 Florida State on Road Tuesday

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving returns from the holiday break on Tuesday when it competes at No. 16 Florida State. The action at Morcom Aquatics Center is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. ET in Tallahassee.

What to Know

  • The Crimson-Seminoles clash will feature a pair of unbeaten teams. Harvard is 3-0 on the year after defeating Dartmouth, Cornell and Columbia to open the season before it competed at the Minnesota Invitational, Nov. 29-Dec. 2. Florida State, meanwhile, is 4-0 with victories over No. 23 Georgia Tech, Florida Southern College, LSU and No. 19 Alabama. FSU was last in action Nov. 16-19, at the Georgia Invitational.
  • Harvard is facing Florida State for just the second time, with the first meeting occurring during the 1996-97 campaign. The Crimson won the two-day meet (Dec. 7-8, 1996), 145-98.
  • Harvard returns to competition for the first time since the Minnesota Invitational where four program records were nearly set. Senior Will Grant was in the middle of most of the action, setting the second-best time in school history in the 100 back (45.95) and the third-fastest efforts in the 200 IM (1:44.26) and 200 back (1:40.68). First-year David Schmitt, meanwhile, recorded the third-best performance in Harvard history when he finished the 200 fly in 1:43.69. All four times were NCAA B-cuts.
  • The Crimson enters the contest with Florida State having won 15 consecutive dual meets, a streak that dates to the 2021-22 season. Harvard, 3-0 this season, went 7-0 in 2022-23 and won its last five dual meets of the '21-22 campaign. The Crimson's last defeat came at No. 10 Stanford, Jan. 12-14, 2022.
  • This past week, senior Marcus Holmquist was named to the Swedish National Team, which is set to compete at the 2024 World Championships in Doha, Qatar, Feb. 11-18.
