CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Sailing's
Sophia Montgomery,
Kate Danielson,
Robby Meek and
Justin Callahan earned national championship berths across three different regattas, the ICSA announced late Tuesday.
Montgomery and Danielson were at-large selections to the ICSA Women's Singlehanded Championship, which will take place at St. Petersburg Yacht Club in Florida, Nov. 9-10. The Crimson duo was part of a 12-athlete at-large group, with six others garnering automatic qualification from their conference championship. Danielson was the runner-up at the NEISA event back in mid-September, with Montgomery finishing in fourth place.
Meek captured one of six automatic invitations to the ICSA Open Singlehanded National Championship after he won the NEISA regatta in Providence, Rhode Island. The sophomore will vie for a national title the same weekend, and at the same venue, as Montgomery and Danielson.
Callahan, meanwhile, was one of six automatic qualifiers announced to compete at the ICSA Match Race National Championship. The 10-sailor field is scheduled to compete Nov. 16-17, at Seawanhaka Corinthian Yacht Club in Oyster Bay, New York. The junior punched his ticket to nationals after a first-place showing at the NEISA event last weekend.
Harvard will return to action this weekend, Oct. 19-20, with scheduled appearances set for the Open Atlantic Coast Championship – Final, Yale Women's Regatta and Oberg Trophy.
