Danielson Receives FWSA Young Woman Sailor of the Year Award

TAMPA, Fla. – Harvard Sailing's Kate Danielson received on Thursday the Florida Women's Sailing Association Young Woman Sailor of the Award at the association's Year End General Meeting.

FWSA, which is located on the west coast of Florida, has promoted women in sailing since 1973. One of the most significant ways it promotes women in sailing is through its annual Young Woman Sailor of the Year Award.

Danielson has been sailing since age 6, and has had Olympic mentors such as Allison Jolly, who was the first American woman to win Olympic gold, and Paige Riley, with whom she sailed as Riley was training for the Tokyo Games.

At Harvard, Danielson helped the Crimson win the ICSA Match Racing National Championship this past fall and individually posted two top-10 finishes at the ICSA Women's Singlehanded National Championship (4th in 2024; 9th in 2025). The two-time All-NEISA Women's Skipper selection has also led Harvard to a pair of top-5 finishes at the ICSA Women's Team and Fleet Racing National Championships (team: 3rd in 2025, 4th in 2026; fleet: 3rd in 2025, 3rd in 2026).
