CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Sailing recorded three top-10 finishes this past weekend in the New England area. The Crimson came in third place at the Yale Women's Regatta, fourth at the final of the Open Atlantic Coast Championship, and ninth at the Oberg Trophy.
Yale Women's Regatta | New Haven, Conn.
The Crimson found itself consistently among the leaders over the course of two days as its two boats finished outside of the top nine just once in 26 races. Harvard A-division sailors
Zoey Ziskind and
Peyton Hadfield opened with three consecutive runner-up performances and followed it with a finish line of 9-4-5-9-8-6-7 before coming in 14
th place. The duo, however, completed their time in Connecticut with a 6-8 in the final two races to finish with a score of 82, good for third in its division. The Crimson's B-boat featured two skippers in
Kate Danielson (1-6) and
Cordelia Burn (7-14), with
Margo Silliman serving as crew. The trio won two races (3, 8), finished no lower than seventh place, and punctuated their effort with a second-place performance in the final race of the regatta. Their final score of 59 was the fourth-best in Division B. Overall, Harvard logged a score of 141, slotting in behind Yale (104) and Dartmouth (120).
Open Atlantic Coast Championship – Final | Boston, Mass.
A warm weekend brought less-than-ideal conditions, which limited the event to just seven races over two days.
Justin Callahan and
Kennedy Leehealey finished in first place in Division A after five top-4 performances, including wins in Race 3 and 4. They notched a final score of 38.
Mitchell Callahan and
Alexandra Dorofeev competed against a fleet of B-division boats and opened with four top-10 efforts, winning Race 4. The duo, however, struggled during the final three races, going 13-14-15, to end with a 66. Harvard's final tally of 104 fell short of Stanford (92), Dartmouth (96) and Tulane (99).
Oberg Trophy | Cambridge, Mass.
A lack of wind was a factor as Saturday was called with only a handful of races in the books for the 3-division regatta. A majority of the races were held on Sunday, with all of the A-division competition taking place on the final day. Harvard's A-boat of
Harrison Strom and
Katherine Shin found themselves in the top nine in seven of eight races, with a win coming in Race 5, and ultimately finished with the division's fourth-best score of 46. The Crimson's B-division entry saw
Olivia Hogan-Lopez (1-2) and
Sophia Montgomery (3-14) share skipper duties, with
Dani Bregman on board as crew. The group started slow in the first two races, but answered with a finish line of 1-7-6-2-7-2 to register a 60.
Theresa Straw and
Julia Downey, meanwhile, competed in the C-division and posted a score of 104, with a pair of seventh-place performances (Race 1 and 7) representing their top finish.
