REHOBOTH BEACH, Del. - Vanessa Zhang of Harvard women's golf continued her strong start to the 2024-25 season this weekend by posting a T3 finish at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational. The Crimson sent the duo of Zhang and Bonnie Zhai to compete in the field of 65 golfers and conclude the Fall season for the program. Zhang collected her third top-ten finish of the season to wrap up what was an impressive run in the first four tournaments of her career. 

How It Happened

• Vanessa Zhang and Bonnie Zhai made up the duo that represented the Crimson in the field at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational this weekend. The two golfers jumped into the field of 65 golfers looking to end their Fall seasons on a high note. 

• Zhang's round of 74 helped her move into the top 15 after 18 holes while Zahi was not far behind with her score of 79 in teh first round of the event. 

• On the back half of Saturday's action, Zhang began to make her move towards the top, posting a round of 70 - one of the lowest scores in the field during the second 18 holes  - to move into the top-10. The Canadian used four birdies to post one of her best scores of the season. Zhai posted a score of 78 in her second round to go into day three with a tournament score of +13. 
• Zhang saved her best golf for the final round of action, as the first-year dazzled on her way to a three-under round of 69 in the final 18 holes. The score was the lowest of her young collegiate career and put her tied for third in the field at the conclusion of play. The strong round gave Zhang a tournament score of three-under par. Her teammate, Zhai, shot a 79 in the final round to complete her tournament with a score of 20-over-par. 

Harvard Highlights

• Zhang's T3 finish was the best of her career and the best of the season, individually, for the Crimson.

• The first-year also carded nine birdies, which was tied for the eighth most in the field and her 39 pars were the third most. 

• Her third round score of 69 (-3) was the lowest of her career. 

Next Up

Harvard has completed its Fall schedule of events and will now begin preparing for its Spring season that is set to begin in February. The team's spring competition schedule will be released in the coming weeks on social media and gocrimson.com.
