CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's basketball will play two games in the next three days, traveling to Maine on Sunday, November 17 at 12:00 p.m. and then returning home to face another crosstown foe, in Northeastern on Tuesday, November 19. The Crimson will welcome the Huskies to Cambridge with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. inside Lavietes Pavilion and on NESN.
What to Know
- The Crimson will open its 2024-25 season with 13 non-conference contests before starting its annual 14-game Ivy League slate in January.
- Harvard will play six of its 13 out-of-conference matchups inside Lavietes Pavilion, having started on opening night with UMass-Amherst and continuing last Thursday against Boston College. The Crimson will also welcome Northeastern (Nov. 19), Rhode Island (Dec. 7), Boston University (Dec. 21), and Delaware (Dec. 30) to Cambridge.
- Harvard has started the season 3-1 with two of its three wins coming against Power Five opponents in No. 25 Indiana and Boston College.
- After its historic victory over nationally ranked Indiana, the Crimson received votes in week two of the AP Top 25 poll.
- In its last time out, the Crimson dropped its crosstown rival, Boston College, 78-70, on the back of a historic night from senior guard, Harmoni Turner. The win marks the third straight year that Harvard has downed the Eagles.
- Turner came to life against the Eagles, setting a new program record for single-game scoring with a career-best 41 points on 14-of-23 shooting from the field and a career-high seven three-pointers. The Mansfield, Texas, native also tallied a double-double in the outing, adding 10 rebounds.
- As a team the Crimson shot 49.1% (27-of-55) from the field and 50% (13-of-26) from distance. Harvard also led in the rebounding battle, grabbing 36 boards to Boston College's 27.
- Through three contests, Turner is averaging 21.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 3.25 steals, and 1.0 blocks per game. The senior ranks seventh nationally in points (87), 13th in steals (13), 23rd in points per game (21.8), and 33rd in three-pointers (10).
- Elena Rodriguez has had a strong start to her senior season, averaging 11.8 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.25 assists, and 2.0 steals.
- Gabby Anderson opened her junior campaign with a career-high 20 points, six rebounds, four assists, two blocks, and three steals against UMass. Through the first four contests, she is shooting 40.0% from distance after having not recorded a triple in her first two seasons.
- Ahead of this season, the Crimson were picked to finish third in the Ivy League Preseason Poll, receiving 101 points, including one first-place vote. Harvard trailed only Princeton (122) and Columbia (110).
- Harvard lost just one active senior from last year's squad in Lola Mullaney, while returning a league-best 80% of its scoring.
- Additionally, the Crimson added five highly touted first-years in Nina Emnace, Alayna Rocco, Hana Belibi, Lydia Chatira, and Asani Ceaser.
- Of its 10 returning players is Harmoni Turner who is poised for another dominant season. As a junior, Turner led the Crimson in points, assists, and steals, ultimately earning first-team All-Ivy honors for the second straight year. Ahead of this season, Turner was named to the 2025 Becky Hammon Mid-Major Player of the Year Preseason Watch List.
- Including among its returnees are four of its top five scorers in Turner (19.3), Katie Krupa (11.3), Elena Rodriguez (10.3), and Abigail Wright (6.7) and its top three rebounds in Rodriguez (163), Turner (143), and Saniyah Glenn-Bello (107).
- Ahead of the 2024-25 season, Krupa and Elle Stauffer were elected as team captains by their teammates.
- Carrie Moore's 36 wins in her first two years at the helm marks the most in program history through any coach's first two seasons.
- The Crimson currently trail 8-11 in the all-time series versus the Black Bears. Harvard will look to bounce back from a 61-79 loss last season in Orono, Maine.
