CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Men's Swimming and Diving is set to make is 2024-25 home debut on Friday evening as it is scheduled to play host to Columbia. The Ivy League meet is slated for a 5 p.m. ET start at Blodgett Pool, with ESPN+ airing the contest live.
What to Know
- The Crimson began its season last week on the road in a meet at Cornell with Dartmouth. The two-day meet saw Harvard take down the host Big Red, 181.50-118.50, and defeat the Big Green, 222-75.
- On Friday at Cornell, with the diving events being contested, Adam Wesson broke the school record on the 1-meter board with a score of 398.65. The senior also won the 3-meter competition after producing a score of 371.45.
- On Day 2 in Ithaca, Harvard opened with a win in the 200 medley relay. The quartet of Anthony Rincon, Joshua Chen, Aayush Deshpande and Sonny Wang finished with a time of 1:28.66.
- Wang went on to capture the 50 free (20.01) and 100 fly (47.47), with Chen winning the 200 breast (2:00.35).
- Other winners at Cornell include Shane Washart (500 free – 4:33.01; 1,000 free – 9:23.99), David Greeley (100 free – 45.23; 200 free – 1:39.07), and Adriano Arioti (200 fly – 1:47.21).
- Harvard comes into the meet with Columbia boasting a 73-5 all-time series lead. The Crimson has won 17 straight dual-meet decisions over the Lions.
- Harvard is in search of its fourth straight 3-0 start to a season.
- Columbia will bring with it to Cambridge a 1-2 record on the season. The Lions defeated Penn at home, 188-111, on Nov. 8, but fell to Princeton on Friday, 168-132, and at Yale on Saturday, 209-91.
