BOSTON, Mass. – Harvard track & field made even more history at day two of the Eagle Elite Invitational, as the Crimson toppled another Ivy League record at the TRACK at new balance.
The women's distance medley relay team of
Sophia Gorriaran, Egbe Ndip-Agbor, Victoria Bossong, and
Maia Ramsden shattered a 12-year-old Ivy League record, finishing the race at the Eagle Elite Invitational in 10:52.07. The quartet's result surpassed Dartmouth's 2012 DMR time of 11:00.62. The Crimson now rank fifth in the nation in the DMR.
EAGLE ELITE INVITATIONAL HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- After day one of the Eagle Elite Invitational saw the Crimson break school and Ivy League records, the Harvard women's DMR team carried the momentum into day two of the meet at the TRACK at new balance.
- Gorriaran, Ndip-Agbor, Bossong, and Ramsden combined for a time of 10:52.07, breaking a 12-year-old Ivy League record set by Dartmouth. Harvard's time ranks fifth overall in the NCAA this indoor season.
- Sophomore Mfoniso Andrew ran to a top-10 finish in the women's 200m dash, taking seventh place with a time of 24.58.
- In the men's portion of the 200m dash, first-year Timi Esan posted a time of 21.90 on his way to 14th place.
- The next event on the track saw junior Ella Gilson set a new personal record in the women's 3,000m run, taking eighth place with a time of 9:21.22.
- Junior Zoe Cooper also earned a PR in the 3,000m (9:27.17), finishing in 13th place.
- Even more personal bests were set in the men's 3,000m, as junior Reed Pryor finished the race in 8:02.56.
DAVID HEMERY VALENTINE INVITATIONAL HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- Day one of the David Hemery Valentine Invitational saw Ndip-Agbor run to a seventh place finish in the 200m with a time of 24.39.
- Senior Ava Rauser finished in a tie for seventh in the high jump, as she cleared the bar at 1.60m (5'3").
