NEW YORK, N.Y. – On one of track & field's biggest stages, senior
Maia Ramsden orchestrated a stellar performance in the Wanamaker Women's Mile at the 116
th Millrose Games.
Representing the Crimson and New Zealand, Ramsden broke a 10-year-old Ivy League indoor mile record, finishing the race in 4:24.83, surpassing the previous record held by Olympian and former Dartmouth student-athlete Abbey D'Agostino. Ramsden's time at the 116
th Millrose Games is also the top indoor mile time in the country this season and ranks second all-time in NCAA history. Ramsden finished in eighth place in the Wanamaker Women's Mile.
The Millrose Games also sponsors fully automatic timing for 1,500m during the Wanamaker Miles. Ramsden's 1,500m en-route time of 4:07.18 is a new school record and is a second shy of the NCAA record.Â
Just yesterday, Ramsden played a part in breaking another Ivy League record, as she joined teammates
Sophia Gorriaran, Egbe Ndip-Agbor, and
Victoria Bossong in setting a new conference distance medley relay record at the Eagle Elite Invitational. The quartet registered a time of 10:52.07, surpassing Dartmouth's DMR time of 11:00.62 in 2012.
Ramsden's triumph marks the third new Ivy League record set by Harvard student-athletes this weekend, as junior
Anastasia Retsa created a new conference standard in the pole vault on Friday, Feb. 9 at the Eagle Elite Invitational.
Harvard turns its attention to hosting the 2024 Ivy League Heptagonal Indoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday, Feb. 24 and Sunday, Feb. 25. Tickets can be purchased
