Women’s Basketball Hits the Road for its Final Regular Season Back-to-Back

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's basketball (15-9, 8-3 Ivy) will travel to Princeton and Penn for its final back-to-back weekend of the regular season.

What to Know

  • Harvard began their 2023-24 season and the second year under head coach Carrie Moore with 13 non-conference match ups, standing at 7-6 heading into league play.  Through the out of conference slate the Crimson tallied six strong victories over Boston College, Quinnipiac, UMass, North Dakota State, SMU, UMass Lowell, and Delaware and falling only to Maine, BU, URI and a trio of Power 5 opponents.
  • As the end of the Ivy League regular season draws near, the Crimson currently sit with an overall record of 15-9 and 8-3 conference record, sitting at No. 3 in the league standings.
  • By defeating Brown, 80-73, this past weekend, the Crimson improved to 8-3 in league play and clinched its spot in Ivy Madness.
  • While having a standout performance on senior night, Lola Mullaney led all scorers with 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting and 6-of-9 from distance.  The senior also added three rebounds, three assists, a team-high two blocks, and a team-high three steals.
  • Harmoni Turner followed closely behind as she flirted with a triple-double with 21 points, 10 assists, and eight rebounds.
  • First-year's Abigail Wright and Karlee White provided strong performances to close out the Crimson double figure scorers.  Wright posted a career-high with 18 points on 7-of-11 shooting while White contributed 11 crucial points in her first contest back since January 6.
  • As a team, the Crimson shot 49.2% from the field and 36.4% from distance.
  • A strong final quarter lifted the Crimson over the Bears as they shot a game best 77.8% from the field in the frame and held Brown to 38.1% from the field and 0% from distance.
  • By forcing 16 Bear's turnovers, the Crimson capitalized for 20 points off takeaways.
  • Led by Wright and White's successes the Crimson recorded 31 bench points, its highest total of the season.
  • Harvard just barely bested the Bears in the rebounding battle, grabbing 37 to their 36 boards.  Each Crimson player grabbed at least one board as Turner and Wright led the way with eight each.  The Crimson are now 13-1 when winning outrebounding its opponents.
  • Turner continues to lead the way for the Crimson as the junior currently ranks second in the league in points per game (19.0), second in steals (1.9), and third in assists (4.4).  All in the last few games, Turner has broken into the top-five all-time in steals as well as the top-10 in assists and field goals.
  • Turner is one of just four players in all of Division I to average 19.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists.  The only players to match or best the stat line are Rachael Rose (Wofford), Hannah Hidalgo (Notre Dame), and Caitlin Clark (Iowa).
  • Rodriguez, who had a breakout season last year, continues to be dominant presence all-around for the Crimson.  The junior is averaging 11.1 points, 7.2 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 0.8 blocks, and 1.3 steals per game through the first 20 contests.  In 2023-24, Rodriguez has scored in double figures 12 times and has led the team in rebounding and assists in 12 and 10 games, respectively.  While shooting 54.7% from the field, Rodriguez ranks second in the Ivy League, a title which she held at the end of last season.
  • Mullaney is performing at a high level in her senior season by currently averaging 13.8 points and career bests in rebounds (3.5), assists (2.0), and steals (1.2) through the first 24 games.  The senior currently stands with 271 career three-pointers and sits No. 2 all-time in Harvard history for career three-pointers made.
  • The Crimson first-years, Mary Hollensteiner, Karlee White, and Abigail Wright, all have made an immediate impact this season.  Hollensteiner has proven her shooting abilities early and led the team in scoring in their win over Quinnipiac.  White has started 13 games for the Crimson and has begun to blossom on both the offensive and defensive ends.  Lastly, Wright averages over 18 minutes a game and is contributing 6.7 points and 3.8 rebounds per appearance.
  • In the Ivy League the Crimson rank second in assists (14.8) and third in scoring (69.9), field goal percentage (43.5%), three-point percentage (31.9%), and three-point field goals (6.8).
  • Not allowing its opponents to have the same success from behind the three-point arc, the Crimson rank first in the league in three-point percentage defense, holding its opponents to 28.2% from three.
  • This Friday, the Crimson will look to break a three-game losing streak to the Tigers and decrease the deficit in the all-time series that Princeton currently holds a 42-52 advantage in.
  • The Crimson will look to sweep the Quakers for the first time since the 2011-12 season after downing them earlier this season, 69-56.  Harvard holds a sizable, 55-37, lead in the all-time series.
