CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard University men's soccer rising senior defenders
Jan Riecke and
Ludovico Rollo are set to serve the Crimson as captains in 2024,
Josh Shapiro, The Virginia B. and James O. Welch, Jr. '52 Head Coach for Harvard Men's Soccer announced on Monday.
A three-time All-Ivy selection, Riecke has started all 50 of the team's games over the last three seasons, playing 4,555 of a possible 4,589 minutes (99.3 percent). Also a two-time Academic All-District selection, Riecke earned First Team All-Ivy in 2022, Second Team All-Ivy in 2023, and Honorable Mention All-Ivy in 2021. This past fall he tallied four points on one goal and two assists for his first collegiate points.
Rollo has played in 24 career games with 14 career starts, posting five points on two goals and one assist. He played in seven games with four starts this past fall, seven games with six starts in 2022, and 10 games with four starts in 2021. Rollo has made nine starts for the Crimson in Ivy League play over the course of his career, including five Ivy starts in 2022.
In 2023, Harvard finished second in the Ivy League standings, marking its highest finish in the conference table since 2015. The Crimson has moved up the league standings in each of the last three years from fourth in 2021 to third in 2022 to second in 2023.
