th in the women's giant slalom, and senior
Liam McNamara came in 25
th in the men's giant slalom as Harvard University alpine skiing competed in an NCAA giant slalom qualifier as part of rescheduled events from the UVM Carnival on Thursday at the Dartmouth Skiway.

Halvorsen and McNamara each tallied their fifth top-30 finish in as many races this weekend as the Crimson opened a three-day weekend of competition.

Harvard will continue competition at the Dartmouth Carnival this weekend with the giant slalom on Friday and the slalom on Saturday. On the nordic side, the Crimson will take part in the 1.3k skate sprint on Friday and the 15k classic on Saturday with competition at Oak Hill Outdoor Center in Hanover, New Hampshire.

Alpine events at the 2024 UVM Carnival were originally scheduled for Jan. 11-12 before the events were also postponed on Jan. 26-27. Alongside today's giant slalom competition, the UVM Carnival's slalom event is now set for Feb. 18 at Catamount Mountain in Egremont, Massachusetts.Â
Harvard Highlights
- Senior Elsie Halvorsen placed 25th in women's giant slalom with a time of 2:01.11 (1:00.25 run one, 1:00.86 run two), collecting six NCAA points. She has placed in the top-30 at all five events this carnival season, including four top-25 finishes.
- Senior Liam McNamara posted a 25th-place effort in men's giant slalom behind a time of 1:56.49 (57.99 run one, 58.50 run two), tallying six NCAA points. He came in 12th place in run one. This carnival season, he has finished in the top-30 at all five events, including three top-25 showings.
- First-year Josh Rosenberg – wearing bib number 72 – worked his way up the field, finishing in 42nd place (1:58.43, 59.37 run one, 59.06 run two).
