BOSTON, Mass. – Day one of the Eagle Elite Invitational saw school and Ivy League records fall, as the Crimson produced historic results throughout the day.
In the women's pole vault at the Eagle Elite Invitational, junior
Anastasia Retsa set a new Ivy League standard in the event. At the TRACK at new balance, Retsa cleared the bar at 4.32m (14'2"), overtaking Princeton's Tessa Mudd's mark of 4.31m from 2023 atop the Ivy League all-time performance list. Retsa is now tied for 15
th in the nation in the pole vault.
Junior
Kenneth Ikeji orchestrated a statement in the men's weight throw, breaking his own program record with an attempt of 22.89m (75'1"). The record-breaking performance from the London, U.K. native puts him in a tie for fourth in the nation this indoor season.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- Ikeji started the day strong for the Crimson, winning the men's weight throw at the Eagle Elite Invitational, as his fifth throw of 22.89m (75'1") broke his own program record and is tied for fourth in the nation.
- Retsa carried the momentum into the women's pole vault, breaking the Ivy League record in the event after clearing the bar at 4.32m (14'2"). The Athens, Greece native broke her own school record in the pole vault last weekend at the Crimson Elite.
- On the track, junior Ben Rosa earned a victory in the 5,000m run with a personal-best time of 13:57.66. First-Year Charlie Ortmans also secured a spot on the podium, finishing in third after completing the 5,000m run in 14:13.47. Â
- The men's 60m dash prelims saw sophomore Jonas Clarke capture a spot in the finals with a preliminary time of 6.78.
- In the finals, Clarke ran a personal season-best 6.76 on his way to a seventh-place finish.
- A pair of Crimson runners secured stellar results in the 800m run. Junior Victoria Bossong finished in fifth place with a time of 2:04.02, which ranks third all-time in the Ivy League. First-Year Sophia Gorriaran ran a nearly identical time, posting a result of 2:04.06, placing her fourth all-time in the Ivy League.
- Junior Chloe Fair ran the 400m dash for a second straight week, taking ninth at the Eagle Elite Invitational after finishing the two-lap race in 54.99.
- Three Harvard student-athletes recorded top-10 finishes in the women's weight throw.
- First-Year Emilia Kolokotroni continues to show incredible potential in the event, as the Nicosia, Cyprus took second in the event with a personal-best throw of 19.09m (62'7"). The result ranks third all-time in Harvard history.
- Classmate Alice Mihas finished in seventh (16.72m) while sophomore Michaela took eighth place (16.66m).
