Women’s Basketball Set to Close the Regular Season Versus Dartmouth

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard women's basketball (15-11, 8-5 Ivy) will return home for its regular season finale against Dartmouth.  The two squads will meet to close out Ivy League action on Tuesday, March 5 at 8:00 p.m. in Lavietes Pavilion and on ESPN+. 

What to Know

  • Harvard began their 2023-24 season and the second year under head coach Carrie Moore with 13 non-conference match ups, standing at 7-6 heading into league play.  Through the out of conference slate the Crimson tallied seven strong victories over Boston College, Quinnipiac, UMass, North Dakota State, SMU, UMass Lowell, and Delaware and falling only to Maine, BU, URI and a trio of Power 5 opponents.
  • As the end of the Ivy League regular season draws near, the Crimson currently sit with an overall record of 15-11 and 8-5 conference record, sitting at No. 3 in the league standings. 
  • This past weekend the Crimson dropped a pair of contests while facing off against Princeton and Penn in the final back-to-back of the regular season. 
  • First against Princeton, the Crimson came out hot, pulling out to a 33-28 lead at halftime while shooting 43.3% from the field. 
  • Harvard could ultimately not hold off the Tiger's second half attack, falling 49-60.
  • Harmoni Turner led all scorers on the night with 20 points while also adding eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals. 
  • Lola Mullaney joined Turner as the only other Crimson player to reach double figures while adding 12 points on 40% shooting. 
  • Abigail Wright made her first career starts this weekend by being one of the first five out during both contests. 
  • Princeton who ranks second in the league in turnovers while averaging just 12.7 per contest, nearly reached their average in the first half alone.  In total the Crimson forced 20 Princeton turnovers and created 18 of its points from them. 
  • In the second match up of the weekend, the Crimson came out hot against the Quakers, leading by as much as 19-9 midway through the first quarter.
  • The Quakers were able to close the gap, taking the lead going into the locker room before ultimately closing the game out with a 67-69 win. 
  • Harmoni Turner once again led all scorers by contributing 19 points on 8-of-13 shooting. 
  • With her first bucket of the day, Turner broke into the top-10 list for all-time career point.  As a junior, Turner stands with 1,334 career points and counting. 
  • Lola Mullaney followed closely behind with 18 points.  The senior was a crucial piece in the Crimson third quarter run, contributing eight points to the teams 13-1 quarter ending run. 
  • Elena Rodriguez got back to her scoring ways by adding 12 points and a team-leading six boards. 
  • As a team, the Crimson shot 42.6% from the field by going 23-of-54 throughout the contest.  Of its 23 field goals, Harvard assisted on 15, led by five dimes from Katie Krupa
  • Turner continues to lead the way for the Crimson as the junior currently ranks second in the league in points per game (19.0), first in steals (1.9), and third in assists (4.3).  All in the last few games, Turner has broken into the top-five all-time in steals as well as the top-10 in points, assists, and field goals. 
  • Turner is one of just five players in all of Division I to average 19.0 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 4.4 assists.  The only players to match or best the stat line are Daisha Bradford (UL Monroe), Rachael Rose (Wofford), Hannah Hidalgo (Notre Dame), and Caitlin Clark (Iowa). 
  • Rodriguez, who had a breakout season last year, continues to be dominant presence all-around for the Crimson.  The junior is averaging 10.7 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 0.8 blocks, and 1.1 steals per game through the first 22 contests.  In 2023-24, Rodriguez has scored in double figures 13 times and has led the team in rebounding and assists in 13 and 10 games, respectively.  While shooting 52.6% from the field, Rodriguez ranks second in the Ivy League, a title which she held at the end of last season. 
  • Mullaney is performing at a high level in her senior season by currently averaging 13.9 points and career bests in rebounds (3.4), assists (2.0), and steals (1.1) through the first 26 games.  The senior currently stands with 276 career three-pointers and sits No. 2 all-time in Harvard history for career three-pointers made. 
  • The Crimson first-years, Mary Hollensteiner, Karlee White, and Abigail Wright, all have made an immediate impact this season.  Hollensteiner has proven her shooting abilities early and led the team in scoring in their win over Quinnipiac.  White has started 13 games for the Crimson and has begun to blossom on both the offensive and defensive ends.  Lastly, Wright averages over 18 minutes a game and is contributing 6.5 points and 3.7 rebounds per appearance. 
  • In the Ivy League the Crimson rank second in assists (14.5) and third in scoring (69.0), field goal percentage (43.2%), three-point percentage (31.8%), and three-point field goals (6.7).
  • Not allowing its opponents to have the same success from behind the three-point arc, the Crimson rank first in the league in three-point percentage defense, holding its opponents to 28.8% from three.
  • The Crimson will look to close out its conference play by matching its conference record from last season and extending its streak over the Big Green to seven. 
  • Harvard currently holds a strong advantage in the all-time series, leading 56-36 all-time.

With the regular season coming to an end, the Crimson will now ready for postseason action, beginning with Ivy Madness on Friday, March 15 from New York City, NY on the campus of Columbia University.
