CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard track & field opened its weekend of competition at three meets on Friday, as a slew of student-athletes took center stage at the Duke Invitational, Friar Invitational, and UConn Northeast Challenge.
DUKE INVITATIONAL HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- Three Crimson headed to Durham, N.C., competing in the women's heptathlon at the Duke Invitational, as the trio completed four of the seven legs of the event.
- Â A qualifier in the women's heptathlon at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, junior Izzy Goudros is in second place after the first day of competition with 3,389 points. A native of Toronto, Canada, Gourdros posted the top results in the 100 hurdles (13.81) and the 200m (23.81).
- In fourth place after Friday's events is senior Jada Johnson. Johnson scored 3,068 points, posting fourth place finishes in the 100 hurdles (14.17) and shotput (11.12m/36'5.75").
- Sitting right behind Johnson in fifth place is sophomore Fabiola Belibi. The Englewood, Colo. native recorded 3,062 points, finishing in second in the 100 hurdles (13.85).
FRIAR INVITATIONAL HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Crimson kicked its time off in Providence, R.I. with the women's 800m, as first-year Samira Kennedy posted a time of 2:17.98 on her way to 26th place.
- In the fourth heat of the men's mile, senior Sameer Das took 33rd place after finishing the four-lap race in 4:14.32.
- Junior Katie Haag ran the women's mile for the first time in her collegiate career, recording a 27th place finish and a time of 5:14.12.
UCONN NORTHEAST CHALLENGE HARVAR HIGHLIGHTS:
- In Storrs, Conn., junior Jeremiah Swett earned a top-10 finish in the men's javelin throw, as his throw of 49.15m (161'3") put him in 10th place.
