CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Nine top five finishes highlighted a great day for Harvard track & field at the UConn Northeast Challenge and the Duke Invitational.
In Durham, N.C., 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships qualifier and junior
Izzy Goudros stood atop the podium in the women's heptathlon at the Duke Invitational. A native of Toronto, Ontario, Goudros scored 5,765 points, a new meet record and just five points away from breaking her own program record.
DUKE INVITATIONAL HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- Three Crimson student-athletes finished in the top five of the heptathlon at the Duke Invitational.
- Goudros finished in first place with 5,765 points, a new meet record and just five points away from setting a new school record in the event.
- A native of Toronto, Ontario, Goudros earned first place finishes in the 100 hurdles (13.81), 200m (23.81), long jump (6.20m/20'4.25"), and the 800m (2:15.53).
- Taking third place was senior Jada Johnson. Johnson recorded 5,091, posting a second place showing in the 800m (2:19.83).
- Sophomore Fabiola Belibi scored a personal-best 4,818 points on her way to fifth place. Belibi placed second in the 100 hurdles (13.85) and fourth place in the 800m (2:27.52).
UCONN NORTHEAST CHALLENGE HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- In Storrs, Conn., three Crimson sprinters dazzled in the men's 100m, posting top-five finishes.
- First-Year Timi Esan exploded for a second place finish, running to a new personal-best time of 10:38. Esan's time ranks fifth in program history.
- Sprinting to fourth place was senior Lance Ward, as the Carl Junction, Mo. native posted a time of 10.50, his fastest time this season.
- Rounding out the top five was sophomore Jonas Clarke. Clarke took fifth after finishing the sprint in 10.50.
- Senior Jonathan Gamarra excelled in the men's 400m, placing third with a time of 48.08.
- The men's 800m saw two Harvard student-athletes secure spots in the top-10. Senior Peter Diebold won the race, finishing the four-lap race in 1:53.50. Logging a seventh place finish was sophomore Justin Levy (1:55.36).
- A qualifier for the 2024 NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships and the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, junior Daniel Falode won the men's triple jump, as his leap of 15.29m (50'2") pushed him to the top of the leaderboards.
