CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –– No. 1 Harvard men's heavyweight rowing will continue its home stand this weekend, hosting the No. 4 Princeton University Tigers for the Compton Cup on Saturday (April 20) at 8:00 a.m.
WHAT TO KNOW
Harvard is coming off a triumphant showing against Cornell on April 6, earning its second-consecutive Robinson Cup. The Crimson picked up the overall weekend win with first-place victories in the first, second and third varsity races.Â
Harvard's first varsity eight remains atop the Week 2 IRCA/IRA Coaches Poll with nine of 12 first-place votes, while Princeton's top eight ranks fourth overall.Â
The Karl Taylor Compton Cup was first held in 1933 between Harvard, Princeton and MIT, but the race has solely included the Crimson and Tigers since 2017. Princeton claimed its first Compton Cup victory in five years last season, but Harvard historically reigns supreme — boasting a 66-17 overall record.Â
