CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard softball started the weekend with a strong win over Penn on Senior Day. The Crimson shutout the Quakers, 7-0, and will wrap up the series tomorrow with a doubleheader.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Priyanka Kaul got the scoring started for Harvard in the second inning as the junior had an RBI single to right field. Shortly after, sophomore
Lael Ayala brought two more runners in with a two RBI single to put the Crimson up 2-0.
After a scoreless third inning, the Crimson struck again as Kaul hit her second RBI single of the day in the fourth inning.
In the fifth inning, sophomore
Finley Payne hit an RBI single to left field to give Harvard a 5-0 advantage.
The Crimson kept the momentum going, scoring two more runs in the sixth inning. Ayala and first-year
Sophie Sun both hit RBI singles, as Harvard
extended its lead.
Senior pitcher
Anna Reed started in the circle for the Crimson, allowing zero runs on two hits with ten strikeouts and one walk on the day. Kaul registered three hits as Harvard scored seven runs on twelve hits.
HARVARD HIGHLIGHTS:
- Seven Crimson players recorded hits on the day as Kaul led the way, going three for three at the plate. Harvard totaled twelve hits on the day.
- Ayala scored three RBIs and Kaul logged two, with Sun and Payne each notching one in the outing.
- Senior pitcher Anna Reed excelled in the circle for Harvard, letting up zero runs and only allowing two hits. Her 10 strikeouts are the most in a game this season for the Crimson and a career-high for Reed.

Harvard concludes its series against Penn tomorrow, with a doubleheader against the Quakers starting noon. The final game is set to start at 3:00 p.m. The games will be streamed on ESPN+.
