CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Harvard Sailing finished in fifth place at the 2024 ICSA Women's Team Racing National Championship on the Charles River on Monday. The Crimson advanced to the Round of 6, but was unable to reach the championship round of four.
Harvard finished the two-day event with a record of 9-7 and one spot out of the final four. The Crimson's fifth-place showing is its best performance in women's team history after coming in sixth in 2022 and eighth in 2023. Harvard was represented by
Cordelia Burn and
Emily Launderville,
Sarah Burn and
Lily Bartlett, and
Zoey Ziskind and
Marbella Marlo.
The Crimson, which went 8-3 on Sunday, opened with a 1-5-6 defeat to Dartmouth, but bounced back with a 2-3-4 performance to beat Penn. Harvard, however, was on the short end of consecutive 3-4-6 decisions to Stanford, Boston College and Yale, to prevent it from advancing to the final round.
Harvard will now turn its focus to final exams before preparing for the ICSA Women's Fleet Racing National Championship (May 20-23) and the ICSA Open Fleet Racing National Championship (May 24-27). Both regattas will be co-hosted by Harvard and MIT, and take place on the Charles River.
